What is a Personal Chef?

As a personal chef I have a passion for cooking and fine dining and bring that passion into your home. After conducting a personalized assessment with you to determine your food preferences and particular nutritional needs, I will shop for the freshest ingredients possible and prepare delicious meals in your home, bringing with me all the necessary tools and equipment. When you arrive home, you will find a spotless kitchen, your refrigerator and freezer full of delicious meals and the delightful aroma of a day of cooking!

What Does Your Fee Include?

The service fee covers menu planning from a choice of hundreds of tasty recipes, groceries and grocery shopping, complete meal preparation (entrées and side dishes), food cooling, packaging and storage, kitchen clean-up and easy heat-and-serve instructions. All you have to do is enjoy your meals!

How Does a Personal Chef Service Work?

We will discuss your likes, dislikes and dietary goals during an in home interview and then set up a cooking date. On that day, I will shop for the groceries for your selected menu, arrive at your home and prepare the meals in your kitchen using my own equipment, package and label the meals with reheating instructions and either freeze or refrigerate as required. When you arrive home your freezer and refrigerator will be filled with an assortment of meals that will be ready to serve in no time at all.

How Often Do You Cook For an Average Client?

The frequency of cooking dates is based solely upon your needs. I have a very flexible schedule and can provide my service as often as you require..

What if I Don’t Like Frozen Food?

Many of the meals I prepare can be packaged and refrigerated to be served fresh.

The United States Personal Chef Institute is the premier school for personal chefs and we are specifically trained in preparing dishes for the freezer. The methods we are taught ensure that once reheated, the dishes will taste as if they are freshly prepared. In fact, the U.S. government has contracted the USPCA to teach the flight attendant crews of the U.S. Diplomatic Air Fleet (including Air Force One) this method of food preparation.

Do I Have To Be Home on Scheduled Cooking Days?

No. Once we have set a cooking date I will make arrangements with you regarding arrival time, house keys etc. In general, clients will provide me with access to a house key, but it depends on what you're most comfortable with. As a member of the U.S. Personal Chef Association, and a representative of that organization, I have sworn to adhere to a strict code of ethics in regards to my client's property and privacy.

Can You Help Me With Special Occasion Dinners or Out-of-Town Guests?

I would be happy to help. I have over 30 years of experience in party planning and catering. Please call me and we can discuss the details of your special occasion.

Can You Accommodate Special Dietary Needs Such as Food Allergies, Low Fat Meals, Etc?

“Gourmet on Call” can accommodate many food plans including low fat, vegetarian, and many popular diets such as Weight Watchers or South Beach. You can choose from our vast selection of meals which includes lactose-free, gluten-free, etc. During our initial interview we will discuss any restrictions you might have and talk about your likes and dislikes as well.

My Child Is a Picky Eater, Can You Accommodate Him?

Absolutely. I have a huge variety of kid-friendly dishes to choose from including traditional favorites like spaghetti and meatballs or shepherd’s pie.

Will You Bill Me or Do I Pay in Advance?

Payment is made in advance of your cook date. All food purchases will then be covered. I accept cash & checks.
