Ruriko grew up in Essex County, New Jersey where her family, all chefs, owned and operated a successful local restaurant. She spent her early years with her father, mother, and brother learning the expertise and craft of running a flourishing eatery. Her food is influenced by her Japanese-Italian heritage, as well as the classic cuisine of Jacques Pepin.
Ruriko received a degree in fine arts from William Paterson University and attended Pratt Institute Graduate School. She is an accomplished painter whose work is in collections worldwide.
For almost 30 years, she and her husband George owned a restaurant-catering establishment which served the business community of Hackensack, New Jersey. The business grew to be a renowned catering firm in Bergen County. This is where Ruriko honed her cooking skills and developed many new and exciting recipes. She travels extensively throughout the US and Europe looking for new inspirations for her cuisine.
Ruriko has two daughters, Alex and Liz, and lives with her husband in the Township of Washington, New Jersey.
